Previous Daily Devotional About returning to God 2 Chronicles 30:8. Come to the sanctuary, which he has consecrated forever. Serve the LORD your God, so that his fierce anger will turn away from you. 9 If you return to the LORD, then your brothers and your children will be shown compassion by their captors and will come back to this land, for the LORD your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him." (NIV) We can be so easily distracted. We can pulled away from Christ by the glitter of the world or pulled away from Him by the trials we suffer. Temptation can cause us to walk away from God. Suffering can cause us to doubt God's love, care, and compassion. In our hearts and lives, we must return to God. In our lives that contain so much activity that is not of God, we must commit all of our being to live for Christ. We find God's favor only as we love and worship Him. We find God's compassion as we draw near to Him. We find that God is with us when we return to Him. As we return to God and humbly seek to do God's will, His face will shine upon us. When we return to God, no matter what might befall us we will rise to meet His hand. |
