Previous Daily Devotional About the risk of witnessing… Acts 16:22 The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten. 23 After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. (NIV) Sometimes, preaching the gospel of Christ can be dangerous to your health and to your life. Our faith has stayed alive for two thousand years because people were willing to risk their lives and fortunes to see the gospel preached or to preach the gospel. In our modern era of the faith, we too often pander to telling believers they can get anything they want any way they want it. We too often tell believers all they have to do is ask God for anything and anything will be delivered. In our modern era of the faith, the idea of sacrificing for Christ to such an extent we would be willing to be beaten and flogged for Christ is somewhere in another universe. In your own life, every day you have a chance to put Christ before anything in your life, even before your personal health or wellness. Your faith should not be about your getting what you think you need and want. Your faith should be about witnessing to others about how much Christ loves them and cares for them. Your faith should be about being willing to witness regardless of the personal consequences to you. |
