Previous Daily Devotional About seeing God Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. (NIV) We are all capable of having pure hearts even though we are born with hearts that are impure. Our willingness to accept Christ into our hearts, and our willingness to repent or turn away from the darkness within us determines the purity of our heart. When your heart is pure you have spiritual vision and this spiritual vision permits you to see God. It is your heart that leads you to your visible God. Your mind can be clean of evil thoughts but your heart can have sinful yearnings that make you blind to God's love, wisdom, and presence within you. It is as if your spirit has eyes. To see clearly, you must confront your sinful heart, confess the sinful yearnings in your heart, seek Christ's forgiveness, and commit to keeping your heart turned only toward to Christ. |
