Previous Daily Devotional About seeing love 2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 4 We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance. (NIV) We must, in every circumstance, try to see love. We must try to see love for God is love and God is available in every circumstance. For reasons we cannot know until Christ returns, there are circumstances so full of darkness our logic tells us there is no God. When violence destroys and rips apart all we hold dear, our human response is to believe evil and darkness have all the power. However, we must not be deceived, for in every circumstance the hand of God reaches out to us and it is God who wants us to reach back to Him. You are deceived when you think you are alone, for you are not alone. You are deceived when you think evil has won, for evil has not won. When you hurt so deeply there is no other emotion, your hurt can be placed in the hand of God when you see His love. In His hand, His love, grace, care, and compassion will ease your pain. Love expresses itself in such myriad forms and in such diverse circumstances we cannot always understand how love works. However, we can see love. We can see love in the trust of a little child, or in the desire to change a character flaw to make a relationship better, and in the form of Christ willing to be crucified two thousand years ago. When we cannot see love, we cannot see God. When we cannot see God, we cannot see love. |
