Previous Christmas Devotional About
seeing the baby Jesus… 2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 4 We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance. (NIV) We cannot go back in time to physically stand at the manger scene. We can imagine what it must have been like to stand next to Him, but we can only imagine. Although we cannot go back in time, there is a present reality about God in the form of the Holy Spirit enabling us to see Christ. We can, in our heart, see the baby Jesus. In our heart, we can see the baby Jesus just as if we were standing next to Mary and Joseph while He was lying asleep in the hay. In our heart of hearts, it is critical for our faith to be able to see Christ in all His forms and in all His ways of working. When we see Him as a baby or when we see Him as an adult hanging from the cross as He died for us, the sight of Him transforms us. When we see the baby Jesus, what we see is God’s love on earth in human form. When we see the baby Jesus, we see the supreme example of God’s love for each of us. When we see the baby Jesus, we see a message from God saying, “I love you, and for you and yours I want peace on earth and good will toward men.” |
