Previous Daily Devotional About self-discipline and faith… Matthew 26:62 Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?" 63 But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, "I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God." (NIV) To have self-discipline we must be in charge of ourselves. We are not in charge of ourselves when we are first born. When we are first born, we are totally helpless and fully dependent upon others. When we are first born, we work off our survival instincts of selfishness and grabbing. Hopefully, as we grow older we learn to put grabbing and survival instincts aside. If we grow in our faith we learn to be self-disciplined as we give instead of grab, we learn to give rather than take. Walking the narrow road of our faith must not be done to get a return on what we do or who we are. Using self-discipline in our faith enables us to serve Christ in unselfish ways. We serve Christ in unselfish ways because He suffered and died to give us eternal life. Prayer Page For Friday [Go] Affirmation Page For Friday [Go] |
