About shielded by God’s power…

1 Peter 1:5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. (NIV)

We all know or have heard about people who have died after a lifetime of suffering. So great is suffering for some people we easily say the day of their death is a blessing for them even when their death may be a day of mourning for those who loved them. Sometimes we think of these things when we hear or read about being shielded by God’s power. The apostle Peter was not shielded by God’s power as we might think of shielding. Peter was crucified for being a follower of Christ. What kind of shielding is that? Here is an answer. Those people who crucified Peter did not crucify Peter. Those people who crucified Peter only crucified Peter’s body. When Peter mercifully died from crucifixion, Peter was freed from his suffering. Not only was Peter freed from his suffering, but Peter went on to inherit a new life where there are no more hurts, pains, and tribulations. We all want the power of God to shield us from the suffering on earth. When our faith brings upon us the power of God, we are given ultimate protection in our spirit. The power of God gives us an ultimate protection that will never fade, rust, warp, falter or decay. It is this ultimate protection all of us will see and some of us will inherit when we see Christ revealed in the twinkling of an eye after our last moment or when He returns upon the earth.
