About the sin of self-ignorance…

John 9:41 Jesus said, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains. (NIV)

Many times a businessperson will know a lot about their own business but know very little about the world outside of their business. Many times this self-ignorance or lack of knowledge will doom the success of the business. In the same way, our self-ignorance about our life, our motives, our emotional states, and what makes us do what we do can doom our life and doom our relationships. Self-ignorance can make us want what we want rather than what God wants. Self-ignorance can keep us from correcting our failures, keep us from fixing our blunders, and keep us from growing in God’s wisdom and grace. To be a true child of God living a devout and godly life we must seek wisdom about what we do and who we are. In business you must be knowledgeable and wise about many matters in order to be successful. In your life, you must also be wise and knowledgeable about many matters. The sin of self-ignorance can be washed away if we seek God’s wisdom in humility. When we are humble, we are receptive to what God wants us to do and who God wants us to be. When we are humble, we open our mind and heart to the wisdom of the ages. When we are humble, we open our life to new thoughts, new ideas, new approaches, new methods, and new ways of thinking and believing.
