About sin, sickness, confession, and prayer

James 5: 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. (NIV)

There is a connection between sin, darkness, and sickness. Sin results in a definite sickness of the heart and soul. When the heart and soul are sick, the body will follow with its own sickness. Today, we have physical diseases like HIV, which are most prevalent among persons who are living a sinful lifestyle. What is most tragic is that innocent children and adults must suffer for the sins of others. Doctors, surgeons, and medical treatments can sometimes accomplish the healing of the body. However, there is only one cure for the sin sickness of the heart and soul. That cure is confession of the darkness we carry within and opening our heart to the healing grace of Christ. After confession must come prayer. Prayer opens us up to our Savior’s healing Light of Love.
