Previous Daily Devotional About speaking to people you don't know… Acts 16:13 …We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. 14 One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message. (NIV) Not everyone is called to be an evangelist. Not everyone is called to approach people on the street in order to convert them. Each of us has a special set of gifts or talents given to us by God. Each of us has a special set of gifts we are to use to bring glory to God's kingdom. What each of us must recognize is that people need people. People need people to show them the love of God by a real person. Not every person we speak to is a godly person. However, some of the people to whom we speak have a heart that is ready to be touched by God's love and grace. We never know who is ready to hear about Christ and who is not. Even when it seems some people are not ready to hear about how Christ died for them, there can be within these people a deep godly hunger to hear how hope for their life is infinite in Christ. In your own life, you may not be commissioned by God to be an evangelist, but you may be commissioned to be a humble person who plants seeds in the hearts of others. For when you plant seeds in the hearts of others, at some later time beyond your knowing, those seeds can begin to sprout and produce a beautiful harvest. |
