About spiritual emancipation…

Romans 8:21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. (NIV)

The Israelites wanted freedom from slavery. God said OK, and using Moses, God gave them freedom. However, God is not just about physical emancipation or physical freedom. God is more about spiritual emancipation. God is about taking people out of emotional, spiritual, and psychological slavery.

Hard to believe but true…God made His children wander in the desert for forty years eating the same thing day after day.

Hard to believe but true…God gave His children rules to live by called commandments they did not want to follow.

God did these marvelous deeds to mold and shape His children into a mighty nation. As a nation, God was giving His children a chance (and only a chance) at the Promised Land. God gave His children a desert experience to change them and make them grow in spirit and in faith. Eventually, His children who were former slaves got out of their slave mentality and they grew spiritually until they could build a physical nation. Over the centuries, His children lost their nation. Their Promised Land was only worldly land, nothing else. The real reward His children received and still receive is learning to be godly and devout in spite of many hardships. When we learn to be devout in spite of many hardships we inherit God’s Promised Land called Heaven.
