Previous Daily Devotional About staying faithful during suffering… 2 Samuel 22:26 "To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, (NIV) There is a point to suffering. There is within the experience of suffering an objective for you. The point of suffering is not just to make you hurt but to make you lose faith and lose hope in God because you hurt. Over time and with enough suffering, even the most devout of persons can begin to doubt God and whether God loves them. The point of suffering is to make you ask whether God exists and whether God is a being of love. Suffering is generally regarded as a test of faith. Suffering is not a test we want to take. However, in the most simple of terms, we pass the test of faith not by making our suffering end but we pass the test of suffering every second we continue to believe, to hope, and to have faith God is a being of love. We pass the test of suffering not when we make the suffering go away but when we refuse to give up. We pass the test of suffering when we continue to be forgiving, when we continue to express love toward others, and when we continue to believe in a place called Heaven. Staying faithful and passing the suffering test is a seemingly impossible chore at times. However, there are rewards to staying faithful in suffering and with God all things are possible. Also, many of our rewards for staying faithful during suffering come to us when we reach Heaven. In Heaven, we will see for the very first time how important it was to remain on the side of our Lord and not give up our faith in our earthly life. In Heaven, we will see the enormous impact of our faithfulness in suffering had upon the lives of others. |
