Previous Daily Devotional About staying faithful to God… Matthew 10:32 "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. (NIV) In the various aspects of your life, you can be continually pushed and pulled. You can be immeasurably stressed. Clergymen and clergywomen ask you to believe in an invisible and inaudible being who is out of your tangible reach, a being we call God. You are even asked to stay true and faithful to God amid all the pushing, pulling, and stress of your daily walk. On the surface, there is something unreasonable and irrational about asking someone to be faithful to God in the mess life can become. Perhaps we live too much of life on the surface too often. However, you are asked to be faithful to God because God loves you. In a world of only reason where love does not exist or is denied, staying faithful to God is a ridiculous idea. However, we do not live in a world of only reason. We cannot live in a world of only reason because we are all people who have hearts, minds, and souls. As we grind out our daily life, we live not just by sight and sight’s pure reason, we also live by faith. You are asked to stay faithful to God by God, not because staying faithful benefits God, but because staying faithful to God benefits you and your world. Not only does God ask you to stay faithful, but God also asks you to stay faithful in the face of hourly temptations, stresses, and influences that can destroy your faith. What looks incredibly hopeless in terms of keeping your faith in tact does in fact contain an element of hope. It is your will combined or aligned with God’s will that permits us to stay faithful. Most importantly, your faith can remain in tact in spite of many obstacles because you have a will, and God has a will to bless you and keep you within His love. |
