1:9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God,
has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy." (NIV) Evil has its own personal designs for you and for your family, friends, and loved ones. Evil seeks your destruction, and eventually your death. Evil also seeks the destruction and death of your family, friends, and loved ones. What will you do in the face of an attack by evil? There are times you must stop evil with force. Once evil has been stopped with force, at that instant you are to start doing good deeds in the Lord’s name and grace. If evil tries to come back after you have stopped evil, then evil must be stopped and good started again. One of the ways evil can be stopped is when you replace good for evil in the face of evil. When you replace hate with love, evil takes a defeat. When you celebrate life in the face of death, evil looses some of its power. When you find hope in circumstances that seem hopeless, the power of evil is diminished. When you seek and find wisdom in the face of ignorance, you begin to stop the advance of evil. In all ways and at every opportunity you are to stop evil and do good deeds in the face of evil.
