Greed, in its many forms and under its many disguises, has spelled doom for persons, for families, for organizations, and for nations. Greed run amok can spell your personal doom. To want what others have or to want more than others have, puts a darkness in your life that generates continual unhappiness. The greed to have more or the greed get more material things causes us to do what we would never do if greed was not present. The greed to have more or get more material things can cause us to become insane. We stop greed by doing the opposite of what the satanic powers of greed want us to do. When the satanic powers of greed want us to grab more for ourselves, we stop greed by giving more of ourselves to others. When the satanic powers of greed attack us by making us afraid of poverty, we must come to Christ and see we have nothing and we are nothing without Him. When we meet Christ in prayer each day, we must be honest with Him and seek His help. When we are honest with God about our being tempted by greed, we will see the folly of greed. The satanic power of greed wants us to accumulate more material things…material things that sooner or later will all be given up when we die. Not only can we not keep what greed wants us to accumulate, the mere act of accumulating diminishes our soul and life.
