Previous Daily Devotional About taking the right path… Proverbs 4:25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. 26 Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. 27 Do not swerve to he right or the left; keep your foot from evil. (NIV) Common sense should tell us to always take the straightest path and take the path with the least danger and risk. Common sense should tell us to take the path of least resistance. Common sense should tell us we must not let ourselves be distracted from our goals and objectives in life. Common sense may speak, but we do not always listen. If you think of your daily life as a walk from one place to another, you can see why God inspired the words above from Proverbs. In your daily walk, the powers of darkness and evil do not want you looking straight ahead. The satanic powers of darkness want to distract you with all kinds of temptations, enticements, and distractions. The satanic powers of darkness want you to walk on dangerous ground, convincing you the dangerous ground is more exciting, has more opportunity, or has a greater chance of reward, wealth, or fame. The powers of darkness have designs for you and your life…designs that will surely bring you to present and future pain and suffering. However, in your daily walk, although there are many distractions, temptations, and enticements, when you continually look upon the Cross and Christ's suffering for you, there comes to you a power to push away all distractions, temptations, and enticements. When you kneel at the foot of His Cross, you are empowered to walk His path and be the straight and true person He always meant for you to be. |
