About talking with God when you are afraid…

1 John 4:18 But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. (NIV)
Talking to God when you are afraid is very difficult to do. When we are afraid, we are often paralyzed in our heart, mind, and soul. Talking to God when we are afraid can demand we go through the motions of talking to God even when the fear separates us from Him. When we talk to God, no matter what the circumstances might be, we must always try to talk to Him in faith and in love. Since we cannot normally see God or hear Him in a physical sense, we must trust Him in our spirit. When we trust God enough to talk to Him when we are afraid, God is still listening and He will reward us by giving us His love that drives out the fear. If we are able to push ahead in our talking with God in our fear, God will reward us by giving us courage and fortitude. In a worldly and secular sense, most of us know there is no cure for fear except facing the fear or doing whatever we are afraid of doing. When we talk with God about what makes us afraid, the love of His presence in our heart and life can drive out the fear. In addition, His presence in our heart and life can give us the extra inner push to do what it is we are afraid of doing. Many times, when we talk with God about whatever it is that makes us afraid, then God will reveal to us we have nothing to fear because His love is within us. When we understand how much He loves us, God will often reveal to us our fears are groundless and our fears are based only upon illusions.
