About talking to God when you have suffered a
loss…
John 16:22 So with you: Now is your time
of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take
away your joy. 23 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the
truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. (NIV)
We can suffer many kinds of losses as we move through
life. We can lose people, pets, jobs, homes, money, and numerous material
possessions. Sometimes we can lose our freedom. Sometimes we can lose our
health. Sometimes we can even lose our will to live. When we suffer a loss, God
is watching, listening, and caring. You might be thinking if God cared so much
then He would stop or prevent the loss. However, we don’t always know the
reasons why God does and does not do what we want. What may seem reasonable to
us may not be so reasonable to God. What we must remember when we suffer a loss
is that God wants us to talk to Him. When we suffer a loss, God is present and
listening to our every word. When we suffer a loss, our incomprehensible pain is
fully known to God and He wants us to tell Him how we are doing and what we need
in our distress. When we suffer a loss and we are hurting, His hand is upon our
shoulder and His love is within our heart. When we suffer a loss, God wants us
to talk to Him as a way of telling Him we love Him. When we suffer a loss, God
wants us to talk to Him and pour out all there is within us. When we suffer a
loss, God wants us to tell Him all we feel and all we think, no matter what our
thoughts and emotions might be. For when we suffer a loss and talk to God, by
pouring out all we have and all we are to Him, we show God we trust Him and we
have faith He will understand us, love us, and help us. |
