Previous Daily Devotional About telling God the truth… Psalm 32:5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord"-- and you forgave the guilt of my sin. (NIV) Telling oneself the truth is often difficult to do. Telling the truth to God is sometimes even more difficult to do. Coming to God in confession of our sins, our weaknesses, our fears, and our innermost desires is mandatory if we are to ever develop a healthy relationship with God. It is not enough to say God already knows everything about our life. We have no reason and we have no excuse not to confess everything to God. When we come to God's alter and we kneel before Him, we are to pour out our all. To hold back part of our life before God is to play games with God. Pouring out all that is within us tells God we trust Him. Pouring out all that is within us tells God we want to be better at being His child. Yes, God does know all about us. Yes, God knows more about us than we know about us. However, for God, it is not enough to just know about us. For God, He wants our confession before Him so He can help us, guide us, and direct us. If we pretend to God and pretend to ourselves there are no problems, issues, sins, and transgressions in our life, we cannot fix them and God cannot help us fix them. God wants growth from you and for you. When you confess to God what is really going on in your life, both you and God have an opportunity to grow from where you are and toward where He wants you to be. |
