Previous Daily Devotional About telling the truth about death Proverbs 12:14 From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things as surely as the work of his hands rewards him. (NIV) Death is the end of our life on earth. Death is sad for those left behind. Death is a grievous event in the lives of those left behind because we treasure the life of those who died, and when others pass away, we miss them. Death is the end of our earthly life but death can also be the beginning of our life in heaven. Conversely, death can also be the beginning of our life in hell. Death is fearful because it is unknown in our direct life experience. Our fear of death can be taken away by our calm assurance that Christ has saved us from the eternal fire of hell. Some people have trouble telling the truth about death because they have no faith that death is the beginning of their heavenly life. If people of no faith told the truth about death they would tell of terror and horror for they know in their souls what does await them. To not deal with the truth about death, the non-believer continually puts the matter of death out their mind and hopes the issue of death will go away. Some people never come to grips with the terror and horror of death but the terror and horror of death will surely grip them, for death grips every person. Death can be the beginning of heaven if we accept Christ as Savior and Lord of our life. With Christ as our savior, we do not fear death, for with Christ as our savior, death is the beginning of eternal happiness, joy, and peace. |
