(NIV) Imagine for just a moment you are standing in the real manger scene with Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus. Imagine also you reach down to touch His little hand and when you touch Him, He wraps His little fingers around your finger. The little grip…the little grip of the baby Jesus…is a life changing and soul changing event. His little grip is the tender surrounding love of God. His little grip is His longing to be near you and be within you at all times. His grip is not a temporary thing. His grip is eternal. Even if you would draw back your hand and walk away from Him, He would always be touching you and embracing you. In this scene, you do not have to imagine. You do not have to imagine anything about His little grip because His embrace is real…real this minute…real in this time and place. The same love you would have felt two thousand years ago by having Him touch you is the same love He pours upon you this very hour. The same gentleness, the same softness, the same innocence, and the same purity are just as alive and real today as they were on the day of our Lord’s birth. What is so important is you can experience Him today just as you would have experienced Him then. Open your heart, open your mind, open your spirit, and He will give you the most precious gift of a lifetime…Himself.
