About the person you can be…
Matthew 19:27 Peter answered him, "We have left everything to follow
you! What then will there be for us?" 28 Jesus said to them, "I tell
you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his
glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones,
judging the twelve tribes of Israel. (NIV)
When Christ died for you on the Cross, He did so because He could see the
person you can be. Christ died for you on the Cross because your sin is
preventing you from becoming all He made you to be. Your ultimate achievement in
life is not what you do to achieve recognition and rewards from others. Your
ultimate achievement in life is what you do to achieve recognition and rewards
for God. What you do on the earth in terms of your job, your career, your
earthly goals, and your earthly ambitions, melts away after you die. Yes, there
are some aspects of your life that carry on into Heaven, but the earthly work of
your life disappears when your new life in Heaven begins. What will last into
eternity is not a skyscraper you build, reports you type, or a company you run.
What lasts into eternity is the love you send out, the forgiveness you give
away, the compassion, kindness, and mercy you show, and the prayers you pray. It
is only because people like you were willing to pray and give away love,
kindness, caring, and compassion that the human race has survived. As long as
there are people like you who will pray, love others, love God, and live lives
that are holy and devout before God, the human race has a chance. What you put
into eternity, what you send into heaven, has nothing to do with your physical
world. What you put into eternity is the supernatural sending up of your
prayers. What you put into eternity is your willingness to surrender all you are
for the sake of Christ.
