Previous Daily Devotional About the times when God seems to be silent… Psalms 28:1 To you I call, O LORD my Rock; do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who have gone down to the pit. 2 Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place. (NIV) We are all in the same place when it comes to the silence of God. The truth is we all want an audible voice from God. We seldom get His audible voice but we do get His love if we open up our heart to Him. Our heart is the door. He stands at the door and knocks. He seldom speaks in an audible voice but He always knocks on the door of our heart. When we open the door of our heart, we do not need to hear an audible voice from God. To open the door of our heart we have to put the big "I", "me", and "mine", of our life aside. When we have the big "I", "me", and "mine" of our life continually dominating our daily life and all our thoughts, the big "I", "me", and "mine", gets stuck in our spiritual ear and we end up being deaf to God. We cannot find God by expecting God to do something for us like speak to us in an audible voice or appear in a visible manifestation. With God, we gain Him by demanding nothing and surrendering all we have. |
