Friday's Daily Devotional About freedom from imprisonment… Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (NIV) Wherever you go in
life, you take God with you. Saying you take God with you is the same as saying
you cannot escape Him. For people who want to lead a sinful life by doing their
will rather than His will, living a godly life in humble oneness with God is
like living in a prison. Without godly contrition as a force in your life, God
represents the warden who restricts your movements and keeps you confined. Sin
and God do not mix. Sin keeps you in prison. Many times, sinners blame their
imprisonment on God. When you accept Christ into your heart and life you are
liberated from your imprisoning sinfulness. You cannot sin and have oneness with
God at the same time. God is always there for you but He has conditions and
restrictions about being one with Him. To be one with God you must surrender up
all you are and all you have to Him. In exchange for your surrender, you receive
back a freedom in your heart, mind, and soul.
