Previous Daily Devotional About a treasure of support from the Lord Psalm 14:4 Will evildoers never learn-- those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the Lord? 5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. 6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the Lord is their refuge. (NIV) Although we cannot see God, He is with us nonetheless. Although we cannot hear His audible voice, He is still speaking with us nonetheless. We may not realize it, but we all rest in the palm of the hand of God. When we go on our own selfish way in life and leave God outside of our heart, we walk away from a treasure of God's love, care, kindness, and compassion. It is God, even when we do not know it, who keeps our life going each day. It is God, even when we turn our back on Him, who keeps our heart beating. What a treasure we have in God, for in Him and in His Son we can have a heart filled with hope and love. If we would just look within our heart, we would see how much God loves us and supports us. When the dark clouds of life roll in on us and we think we have nowhere to turn, we need not turn anywhere but toward our Lord who lives in our own heart. When the grim days of life have overcome us, it may seem like we are standing on sinking sand, but God is ever-present and He holds us up as we reach up to Him. When we think all is lost and we think we have nothing left, when we look within our heart, we find Christ pouring out His blessings over us so many blessings we cannot comprehend their number. |
