Previous Daily Devotional This Devotional Is Part Of A Special Continuing Series Related To Dependency And Co-dependency Issues. Rules Of Godly Common Sense Apply. About trying to please others… Psalms 26:3 for your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth. (NIV) Trying to please others because you are forced to do so, or because you are being manipulated or coerced, is a form of slavery. Slavery, any kind of slavery, is against the will of God. God wants people free. When you try to please others because you have no power to take control of your life and because you are coerced or manipulated into pleasing them can result in dire consequences for you. We are to serve others in Christ's love. Serving others in Christ's love is godly, while trying to please others because we are weak and under coercion is ungodly. When we are not strong in Christ… When we do not have His power within us… When we do things for others under coercion… Then our relationships crumble and our relationship with God weakens. God's will for each of us is to be strong in His love and in His power. |
