Previous Daily Devotional About turning excuses into reasons for
progress… Matthew
25:24 "Then the man who had received the one talent came. `Master,' he
said, `I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and
gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25
So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here
is what belongs to you.' 26
"His master replied, `You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I
harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27
Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so
that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. 28" `Take the talent from
him and give it to the one who has the ten talents.” (NIV) An excuse is most often a false reason we use to try to get ourselves off the hook or out of being responsible. To run away from the truth or to not deal with the truth, we often make excuses. Unfortunately, making excuses keeps us from moving forward. Making excuses stops us in our tracks. Making excuses keeps us from growing and making progress in our life. To deal with the problem of making excuses, you can take control of your excuses. You can take charge of all the whispers in your mind telling you the circumstances of your life are someone else’s doing and not related to what you have done or not related to who you are. You must realize for every excuse there is another hidden truth that will unlock your fullest potential. Without whining, complaining, or making excuses, you can turn every excuse into a time of thinking about opportunity, power, and growth. Without whining, complaining, or making excuses, you can turn even the worst circumstance to your favor.
