Previous Daily Devotional About
the unity between belief and words… Romans 10:10 For it is with your heart
that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess
and are saved. (NIV) Have you ever known someone who says one thing and does another? Have you ever known someone who professes a belief but acts in a manner just the opposite of tenets of the faith they profess? We must not assume confession with our mouth is all we need to do in our walk of faith. For if we confess with our mouth and in our heart we do not really believe what we confess, we are not really confessing at all. If we confess with our mouth but what we say with our mouth is not the same as what is in our heart, we are lying with our mouth. When we boil all matters of our faith down to their essence, our faith is more than what comes out of our mouth. Our faith is more than just words. Our faith is BOTH what is in our heart and what comes out of our mouth. Our faith is BOTH what is in our heart and what comes out of our life as a witness. In our walk of faith, there must be no conflict and there must be total unity between what is in our heart and what is in our behavior. There must be no conflict between what we say we believe and how we show our belief to the world. In the eyes of God it is better to be truthful and confess doubt than to confess belief when there is no belief in the heart.
