Previous Daily Devotional About victory over death 1 Corinthians 15:55 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" (NIV) The sadness of losing someone to death may keep us from seeing the realities in Christ. Death is the final battle for each of us. Every person on earth will not escape the toll of the terrorist called death. However, there is a great "However" because when it seems there is defeat, there is, in fact, victory. The forces of nature acting upon our physical body will take our physical life from us, but in Christ, we have new life. What Satan will destroy in the body, Christ will lift up in the spirit. When there appears to be certain defeat at the hands of Satan, there is certain victory in the nail-scarred hands of Christ. As we approach the last steps of our journey on earth, we have great hope, for our journey has no real end. Our journey in life does not have an end, for when our earthly journey seems to end there is instead a new beginning the beginning of eternal life in Heaven. The ultimate defeat of our earthly physical life becomes in Christ our ultimate spiritual victory. Out of what appears to be our final moment of physical life, comes not a final moment, but infinite moments of new life free of pain, suffering, and worry. When it seems the dark curtain of death is descending upon us, the curtain of Light and Life are raised up for our ultimate and eternal inheritance. At the very moment when it seems all things have ended, we know with certainty in Christ, that all things have just begun. When it seems all has been lost, we look about us and find that all has been found. Not only do we find hope in Christ in this life for the next life, we also find hope in Christ for our next minute here on earth. |
