About victory over pain Psalm 61:12 With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies. (NIV) Physical, emotional, and spiritual pain take a terrible toll upon us. Pain is Satan's second greatest weapon after temptation. It would seem that if Satan cannot destroy you by getting you to fall away through temptation, He will try to destroy you by inflicting pain upon you. However, in this war, we have weapons. We must never fall victim to giving up or giving in to temptation or to the pain. In those moments when you are blinded by the pain, it is at that time you must proclaim Christ to be alive within your heart and life. Our proclamation of His presence is vital, for pain tries to drive us away from Christ. When pain blinds us, we must remember that with God, we can have a vision beyond what we physically see. When we feel the pain, we must proclaim God's love in our heart, even when the pain causes us to not feel it for the proclamation brings His presence. We must call upon God to break the chains of pain that enslave us, for in Christ there is His freedom and light that brings us respite and relief. When Christ touches us with His love and power, the pain begins to disappear. When our body is afflicted by physical pain, we must, with all vigor, reach out to Christ, for His touch will help us. When we are afflicted with emotional pain, His healing love pours over us if we open our heart to Him. When we hurt, it is Christ's hand, the very hand that was nailed to the Cross, that touches us if we seek His touch. In what may seem like some kind of strange reverse logic, we can use our moments of pain to remember how much Christ loves us and remember how much work there is to do in His name. When we hurt, let all of us remember how important it is to be humble and whenever possible, turn each moment of pain into a moment to glorify His name. |
