Previous Daily Devotional About
walking in love… 2 John 1:6 And this is
love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the
beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
(NIV) We can walk in the rain, in the snow, in the fog, in the heat, or in the cold. When we walk in these kinds of weather conditions the weather conditions surround us. When we are walking in weather conditions that are severe, we must be tough and forge ahead in spite of the weather. In the same way, we are commanded to walk in love. We are to walk with love surrounding us. We are to walk with the love of Christ above us, below us, and all around us. As we walk in His love, His love presents to us a form of insulation from the darkness and pain of the world. As we walk in His love, His love gives us a power we do not have on our own. When we walk in His love we must realize there is something tough about love. Walking in the love of Christ demands obedience and self-control. Obedience means always doing what is right before God, always doing what is right in God’s eyes for others, and always doing what is right in God’s eyes for oneself. Unless we get tough with ourselves and we are obedient to the will of God by doing the words of God, we can say we love, but we do not love. Walking In His love is not optional if we have accepted the love of Christ. Jesus said walking in love was not optional nor a suggestion. Jesus said walking in love was a command.
