About walking the Christian walk…
Colossians 2:6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue
to live in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you
were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. (NIV)
To walk the Christian walk requires we not sit idly by and let life put us in
a wheelchair and push us around. The truly surrendered heart is able to discern
opportunities, weigh options, and take action to show others the greatness of
Christ. The truly surrendered heart is not a heart that has given up but a heart
that is willing to fight against every darkness and every adversity. There are
daily opportunities in every person's life to walk the rough road of life where
others are falling down. However, it is tempting to want to be on the easy road
with others who are not having problems and difficulties. It is tempting walk
the easy walk where money, things, and selfishness rule the day. It is easier to
be selfish than unselfish. It is easier to sit back and let others do for us
what we can do for ourselves. It is easier to live according to our rules than
it is to live according to God's rules. What is not easy is helping others who
have difficulties, but it is God's will that you take that kind of stand. What
is not easy is to put aside your desire for money and things, but it is God's
will that you put these desires aside whether it is easy or not. It is not easy
to be unselfish, but it is God's will you put others first. It is not easy
trying to live according to God's commands rather than your own rules, but it is
God's will you follow Him rather than living according to your rules. Although
living for Christ is not easy, there is an eventual benefit. The eventual
benefit is a great new mansion built in a place where peace and love abound
forever.
