About what we should treasure…

Psalm 48:12 Walk about Zion , go around her, count her towers, 13 consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation. 14 For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end. (NIV)
One of the secret keys to happiness is to treasure the tiny increments making up our daily life. The seconds, minutes, hours, and days of our life stream by often without our ever stopping to treasure what we have. Our worries make us look into the future without our ever seeing what is around us in the present moment. We look at others and see how they need improvement instead of looking at them and seeing how much of a blessing they are to us in the here and now. We think about our Lord and wonder why He doesn’t do more for us instead of treasuring the enormity of His sacrifice for us on the cross. We wonder about God and His mysterious ways without ever stopping to treasure the power of His creative genius in assembling all that is and all that will ever be. We can complain about not being able to do more for God in whatever godly endeavors we pursue, yet we often fail to treasure the opportunities He has given us in the tiny increments of our daily life. We too often think about how things might be or might have been when all the power of the universe rests within us to be His humble child. Indeed, our blessings are uncountable not because we cannot count, but because we do not live long enough to count them all.
