Previous Daily Devotional About
when a friend or loved one is taken unexpectedly... Hebrews 2:14 Since the
children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his
death he might destroy him who holds the power of death--that is, the devil-- (NIV)
What hurt we experience when a loved one is suddenly taken from us! In the theology embedded in these web pages, it is affirmed God does not turn dials and twist levers in an attempt to do bad things to people. However, if God did everything we expected Him to do like protecting us from all evil upon the earth, we would end up with no free will. Even in Heaven, where there is ultimate protection, free will still exists as seen by the fact angels can fall out of Heaven. In this horrible mess we live in on earth and in the horrible tragedy of a loved one suddenly being taken in death, God can be glorified. Glorifying God in tragedy is hard to do but must be done if we want to win out over the dark powers taking our life and the life of all people we know and love. Sooner or later, we will all be Satan's victim. However, our victory comes to us when we see Jesus face to face. Another question could be asked. Why didn't God intervene to save Christ from the horror of the Cross? Why didn't Jesus blink His eyes and stop the horror? When you find the answer to these questions in your heart, everything changes in your life and the pain of your loss is eased.
