About
when God disappoints…
Matthew
12:50
”…For
whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and
mother." (NIV)
Disappointment in God is both good and bad. It is good to have expectations
about God. It is bad to have the wrong kind of expectations about God. When God
seems to disappoint us, we must remember God loves us and we can be wrong about
what we think God should do or who we think God should be. God did not bring us
into the world so He could serve us. Instead, God brought each of us into the
world to freely and willfully serve Him. God brought each of us into His world
to glorify the world in His name. If you look at the world with that
perspective, with the perspective each person, including you, was brought into
the world to glorify God, you can see how much we must surely disappoint God.
When God seems to disappoint you, remember your true mission in life is to be
His humble servant. When God does not do what you think He should do, or when
God does not do what you pray for Him to do, remember you are to always seek out
and do His will. When God seems to disappoint you, God seems to disappoint
because you are expecting God to do or to be what is not in His will. God never
disappoints you just to hurt you, but God withholds what you think you want or
need to help you grow up, up, up, and eventually grow into Heaven. When God
seems to disappoint you, you must remember God does not work at a drive up
window handing out whatever we pray for or whatever we order in our prayers.
When God disappoints you, remember you are the one who works at a drive up
window in His name, giving out His blessings, giving out His love, giving out
His compassion, and giving out His forgiveness.
