Previous Daily Devotional About when God says "No" in His love… Proverbs 3:11 My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, 12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. (NIV) Life would be so
much easier if God would just give us what we think we want and need. Life would
be easier still if we did not have to wait on God to get what we want from Him.
However, God is a being of love. In His love, He sometimes tells us
"No" because He loves us. God tells us "No" because He knows
more about what we need than we do. A good parent tells a child "No"
in love because the parent can see consequences the child cannot see. Children
are blind to many consequences. Children have not lived long enough to have a
substantial knowledge of how every act and thought has a consequence later in
life. In the same way, God tells us "No" because God can see into our
future. God knows what is best for us as His children. God is love. God needs us
to sometimes do without what we think and need. God tells us "No" so
we can produce a greater work for Him now and in the future. God
wants us to grow and mature. In His love, God sometimes tells us "No"
when we make our pleas and petitions so we can grow past our petty wants and
needs. |
