Previous Daily Devotional About when God says ""No"" in His wisdom Isaiah 55:9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (NIV) As a race of so-called intelligent beings, we have developed ways of killing off our race and destroying all life on earth. God must look at us in angered frustration over what we have done and continue to do to each other and continue to do to the planet. If we will be honest with God and honest with ourselves, we will see God tells us "No" because God is smarter and wiser than we are. Although our brains can possess wisdom, most often we do not use it to glorify God. Although we are mature enough to absorb wisdom, write it down, and proclaim it, most often we do not apply wisdom. Is it any wonder God sometimes refuses to give us what we want when we want it? Perhaps God does not give us what we want because telling us "No" is the only way God can keep us from self-destruction. We tell a little child they cannot play with fire or scissors because we know the child could be hurt or killed from the fire or scissors. God is much wiser than we are. God is more able to see how what we do today can glorify Him today and tomorrow. God can see what can help us and hurt us when we cannot see these matters. In truth, we are blind. Even when we accept Christ and we can see, we still do not have all the vision or all the wisdom of God. In our walk of faith, we must always strive to accept God's will for our lives. We must accept in humility God's hand upon us because His hand may stop us from doing what may ultimately hurt us, hurt others, and hurt His work in our life. |
