About when God's love does not erase the memory…

Psalm 63:3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. 4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. (NIV)

God's love can do many miracles. However, God's love may not erase a memory you want erased. Although God's love does not erase a memory, what His love can do is place your heart and mind at ease when the memory comes to you. You may remember a time or an event you want erased, but even if the memory is not erased, God's love will bring you peace when you remember. You may remember a time or an event you want erased, but even if the memory is not erased, God's love will bring you power to be more and do more than you ever thought possible when the memory appears. A memory you want erased may remain, but God's love can give you new memories to store up and new memories to recall…new memories that stand in stark contrast to your painful memories. We need not be haunted by our past if we will let the love of God filter into our present. Although there are times, places, and circumstances we want to forget, when we hold God's love in our heart, the times, places, and circumstances of our present take on a new meaning, a new purpose, and new glow. God may not erase our memory of the past. What God does do is walk with us in the present to use our past as a teacher and guide about who we are to be and what we are to do in the present. God's love may not erase your memory of your past, but His love does make new memories out of your present. His love produces joy, peace, laughter, and something out of nothing. His love produces present memories to erase the sting and hurt of past memories, even as we recall the hurtful facts of the past.
