when life gets shaky… Isaiah 28:16 So this is what the
Sovereign Lord says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a
precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be
dismayed. (NIV) Christ is our cornerstone. He was the one the builders rejected. However, in Christ, although He was rejected and despised by us, He lowered Himself for us and will always be present in our life. When our life gets shaky and things seem to come apart, we need someone we can trust. When our life gets difficult, we need someone who will stand with us and be with us. In our difficult times we need someone who we can rely upon to be our foundation. In Christ, we have a firm foundation. In Christ, we need never have any doubts. We need never have any questions about whether we can trust Him. In Christ, we will never be dismayed because we can rely upon Him to always see us through in our darkest hour. We do not have many people, places, and things upon which we can rely in this life. Everything is transient and changeable. Nothing is sure. The earth can shake and take all our possessions away in an instant. There is war, terrorism, economic collapse, poor health, job loss, abandonment by those we trust, and the list could go on and on. However, we need not worry, doubt, or fear for we have Christ, our great cornerstone, our firm foundation, our tested stone on which we can stand. We have Christ, upon whom we can build a great work for His glory and grace.
