Previous Daily Devotional About when the truth hurts… Genesis 3:4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." (NIV) The truth can be incredibly hurtful. The truth can be so hurtful our hearts can be broken beyond what we think is any kind of repair when we hear the truth. However, the truth about the truth is there is always an entity who wants us to live in untruth and live in lies. There is an entity called Satan in your life who wants you to live in lies, in destruction, and in devastation. It seems we often do this song and dance with the truth. To avoid the hurt the truth can bring, we avoid the truth. We tell ourselves lies. We live in denial. We are often willing to live in utter hell to avoid the pain of the truth. However, if you will let Christ into your life, although the truth may hurt for a time, His hands will pour His love over you and His love will take away the pain of the hurtful truth. To live fully and freely takes courage to hear the truth. Sometimes it takes enormous courage to hear and know the truth. When the truth hurts, Jesus can ease the pain. After He eases the pain of hearing and knowing the truth, He will bring you peace and then He will bring you love. |
