Previous Daily Devotional I know someone who is having a crisis. With his encouragement, I am using his crisis to help others. When there is no one to talk to (Part 1 of 5) 2 Timothy 1:3 I thank God, whom I serve, as my forefathers did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. 4 Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. (NIV) Many times, at the very center of our lives, there is no other human being to talk to. In the United States, there is a very rich man who has been in my heart for some time. I do not know him personally. This man is rich in money, rich in power, and rich in influence. He is divorced. He lost a grandchild in the last year or two and he is reported to be inconsolable about the loss of his grandchild. Who does he have to talk to? Perhaps no one. We all have times when we need someone to talk to about things going on in our lives but no one is there who cares enough to listen to us. Some people go through most of their lives with no one to listen to them when they need to talk the most. Traumas, tragedies, times of loss, and times of great stress, all eat away at us and we need to talk these events out. There is no easy answer to this problem. We cannot manufacture friends. We cannot manufacture a caring, listening person. What we must all try to do and what we must try to remember is that Jesus cares. Not only does Jesus care, He does listen to you. Jesus listens to you even when you cannot speak. Jesus listens to your innermost heart. Jesus shares everything with you. He shares every triumph and every loss. When you think you don't have anyone to turn to, you bump into Him. When you think there is no way to deal with a circumstance, He is there with you trying to help you deal with it. You do indeed, have a friend in Jesus. |
