Previous Daily Devotional About when you can't fix your faith… Romans 15:3 For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me." 4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (NIV) In our disgruntlement with God, with others, or with the way people express their faith in God, we sometimes want to fix our faith. We sometimes see our faith is not what we think our faith should be or could be. We sometimes think if we could just fix our faith or change our faith, things would be better in our life or better in our relationship with God. What we must remember is our faith is not a part of a machine that has broken down. Our faith is not a computer that needs repair. Our faith is an outcome of where we put our heart, soul, and mind. When we put our heart, soul, and mind on getting what we want out of our faith, we will get nothing out of our faith. When we put our heart, soul, and mind on getting our needs met by our church, our church will meet few, if any, of our needs. For the truth about our faith in God is that we must forget about our own life and focus only on God, only on Christ, and only upon the Holy Spirit. We cannot fix what is wrong about our faith like we fix a car needing repairs. We can make our faith better by focusing not upon the problems of our faith, but upon the love, care, and compassion of our God. We have no human tools or hardware to repair what needs repairing in our faith. Yet, we have incredible supernatural tools and supernatural methods to increase our oneness with our God. |
