Previous Daily Devotional About when you get knocked down Hebrews 10:36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37 For in just a very little while, "He who is coming will come and will not delay. 38 But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him." 39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. (NIV) When the circumstances of life knock us down, we are, for a time, disoriented. When we are knocked down, we are numb and what is normal no longer exists. When we are knocked down, we lose our bearings. Whatever you do, when you are knocked down, scramble to get back up. Get back up as quickly as possible, for the longer you are down, the longer you may stay down. The longer you stay down on the ground, the greater your chances are of staying down. If you stay down you may begin to feel sorry for yourself. Self-pity grows and begins to keep you down. To get back up, call upon the Master's hand. God does not like a quitter. Two thousand years of Christian history exists because many Christians refused to quit. Two thousand years of Christian history are written in the blood of martyrs who refused to quit. Get up, get going, keep at it. Never quit. Never relent. Praise God in every circumstance for in every circumstance God is present. |
