Previous Daily Devotional About whether you deserve Him… Micah 7:18 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. [19] He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. (KJV) Do you deserve to be forgiven? Do you deserve God's pardon? Do you deserve to have God overlook your inborn sin? Do you deserve to have God delight in His mercy for you? The answer is, “No.” We do not deserve to be forgiven for who and what we are. We do not deserve God's compassion upon us. We do not deserve to have our sin or iniquities forgiven. We do not deserve to have all our sins cast into the depths of the sea. However, this is what is so magnificent and beautiful about God. We don't deserve Him but He still loves us and wants us to be His child. We do not deserve His love but He loves us still. Understanding how much we do not deserve His love and understanding how much He loves us should change us from being a person mired in sin to being a person craving righteousness. Of all the things there are to know about God, the most important thing to know is this – God loves you in spite of who you are. God will continue to love you until you love Him back or you run out of life. If you reject Him and you run out of life, well…you're dead. |
