Previous Daily Devotional About wisdom to make godly decisions . 2 Chronicles 1:11 God said to Solomon, "Since this is your heart's desire and you have not asked for wealth, riches or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12 therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, riches and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have." (NIV) Every moment of your life is filled with decisions. Many moments are filled with decisions to postpone making a decision. However, even the decision to postpone making a decision is still a decision. When we are faced with deciding what to do, we must look to Christ to see His direction. Often we do not know what Christ wants from us on a specific matter. We often make decisions on matters that are not clearly defined and where God's will is not clearly known. In those times, we must pray diligently that God's hand will direct and guide us in whatever we decide to do. We must pray that even when we have no clear message from God that we will always do what He wants. We must remember that God does have a will for us and He does have a design plan for us to follow. There are times in our life when we are hammered with frustrations, temptations, and stresses that try to corrode our soul. As we give into these dark influences, we are cast into the deepest pits of failure. Our desire for making successful decisions should be based upon our desire to please God and Him alone. As we desire to please God and not ourselves, God's success system takes over and works to our advantage. A drug dealer thrown into prison has not followed God's success system. When we wish to make godly decisions we must strive to be humble and contrite above all things. Often, very often, we know the way we should go. Often, very often, we just need to muster up the moral courage and go there. When we make decisions we must make these decisions based upon doing the Lord's work and showing His love in the world. We must keep in mind that Christ wants us to be effective for Him. In Christ, we can trust that our decisions are backed up by His support and encouragement. When our decisions are made because of the darkness in the world, we must shine His light of truth and love into that circumstance. When we assess our place in a circumstance, we must pray that Christ reveals facts to us. In all we say and do, God's mighty hand rests upon us and He calls us to duplicate His good will and spread His love to others. |
