Previous Daily Devotional About your private life… 2 Corinthians 3:3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. (NIV) If no one listened. If no one saw. If no one on earth knew your were alive, what would you do? What would you be like? Would you be different? Nearly every person has at least a social conscience. However, with only a social conscience, a person goes in the direction of society or in the direction of the group to which they belong. With a Christian conscience, a person tries to do only what Christ wants done. Everyone has a private life. Unfortunately, many persons have private lives that are ungodly and unholy. Our private lives are where we are tested by Satan to see if we have the "right stuff" to be holy and devout before God. Our private lives are where we are the most vulnerable. Our private lives are where we stand between God and Satan and make incredibly important choices about whether we want to follow Christ or Satan. No one knows about your private life except you and God. It is in your private life that God stands ready to help, to listen, to encourage, and to tell you how much He loves you. We can all act devout in public or in our faith community. It is in our private life that the truth comes out. In our private life, the truth comes out when no one is around. What is written on your heart can be faked in public. When you are alone, with just you and God, the truth comes out before Him. So it is most important to spend your private life in prayer, in love for Christ, and in a constant mode of seeking His will for your every thought, word, and deed. |
