Topic: BELIEF IN SELF
Dare to believe only in yourself.
-- Friedrich Nietzsche
Comment: The problem of believing only in yourself is that after you are done believing
only in yourself there is only you
no future, no hope, no friends, nothing but you.
In Christ, you have the whole universe and all of the love that is in Him.
Himself is the source of the best and most a man
can be or achieve. The more this is so -- the more
a man finds his sources of pleasure in himself --
the happier he will be . . . For all other sources of
happiness are in their nature most uncertain.
-- Arthur Schopenhauer
Comment: There is a solid and certain Rock upon which every people stand but the Rock is
invisible. Since the Rock is invisible only a few dare believe. On this solid Rock, comes
the power to be great in love, caring, kindness, and mercy. On this solid Rock, a person
finds not just pleasure but infinite joy. On this Rock, people have stood for two thousand
years, some of them sacrificing their lives to keep the memory of the Rock alive. When
they die, the people of this Rock, do not slip beneath the ground, but they float upwards
on the wings of angels, to sail into a realm of infinite joy, peace, and happiness beyond
human reason to know or assess. The Rock is Jesus Christ.
Be cheerful, also, and seek not external help, nor
the peace which others give. A man must stand
straight, and not be kept straight by others.
-- Marcus Aurelius
Comment: The giver of real peace is God. It is God upon whom you can depend, trust, and
lean if need be. For to try and stand tall on your own is to try and stand against the
sure winds of death that will surely level every person.
No bird soars too high, if he soars with his own wings.
-- William Blake
Comment: It is on the wings of angels that we all shall soar if our heart is given away to
Him who died for us.
