The Truth About Evil

John:1: (1): In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2): The same was in the beginning with God. Is getting sick a natural thing?
Is getting a disease is a natural thing?
Is getting cancer a natural thing?
Is being in an accident a natural thing?
Are heath problems are a natural thing?
Are birth defects are a natural thing?
Is drug abuse a natural thing?
Is alcoholism a natural thing?
Is profanity a natural thing?
Is pain a natural thing?
Is suffering a natural thing?
Is an out of wedlock birth a natural thing?
Is fornication a natural thing?
Is evil in life a natural thing?
Is death a natural thing?
Is doing the wrong thing a natural thing?
Is war a natural thing?

In the vast sea of humanity, in this year of our Lord, the chilling answer that resounds from humanity is "Yes. Sure. All these are natural things. They are all natural. They are all a natural part of life."

Something is NOT right about this picture. Something is NOT natural about this picture. The "Yes" answers to the above questions are true on the surface. However, if you look deep beneath the surface of these questions, you will not like what you see. When you look deep beneath the surface, you will not want to look deep beneath the surface any more. When you look deep beneath the surface, you will refuse to admit there is anything beneath the surface.

Matthew 8:5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6 "Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering." 7 Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him." (NIV)

The real, true answer to all of the above questions is, "No. Certainly not. All of these things occur in life but just because they occur does not mean they should occur." What we must remember is that God's will is a reality in life. The occurrence of any of these so-called events is NOT part of God's will. All the events of these questions go against the will of God.

Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. (NIV)

Beneath the surface, the truth of what happens in life is a sinister dark power (the evil one) will eventually kill you. Beneath the surface, the truth of what happens in life is that the sinister evil one delights when any of the above events occur. Therefore, to handle this monstrous evil in life we deny evil exists and do not look beneath the surface. When we look beneath the surface of what happens in life, we do indeed see the sinister dark power of the evil one causing pain, accidents, disease, cancer, misfortune, and adversity of every kind.

Romans 1: 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen. (NIV)

What we cannot deal with in life is the truth. For if we deal with the truth of the action of the evil one against us, we soon see we are helpless, hopeless, and devastated. If we try to deal with the truth about the evil one killing each and every one of us, we can go insane. If we try to deal with the truth about the evil one and evil in general, we become so paranoid we cannot function. In our distorted and untruthful life, we find it much easier to blame God for all these dark events than to take responsibility in our life and admit we are apparently helpless and hopeless against the dark power of the evil one.

Let us look at this problem of the power of the evil one with absolute and incontrovertible truth. No one gets out of life alive. We will all die. Most of us get old, sick, infirm, and wither on our skeletons until one of our vital body systems gives out. We accept this picture as natural. Go to any nursing home and you will see the natural process of aging toward death and you will see what appears to be natural.

A hospital full of sick and dying persons is not considered weird or unnatural.

An accident that takes the life of a young person is not considered unnatural, no matter how much of a tragedy it is.

The hell of a war is considered a natural occurrence.

However, there is something very wrong with this picture. What is wrong with this picture is that we accept the poison of the dark power as natural.

Isaiah 9:2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. (NIV)

Do we accept the poison of the dark power of the evil one as natural because we cannot handle the truth of apparently being helpless against it? Do we willingly drink the poison of the dark power of the evil one because we are too hungry and too thirsty to do otherwise? Is the truth about the dark power of the evil one doing bad things to us, and all other members of the human race, too heavy of an idea to accept? Are we truly helpless against the dark power of the evil one? Does accepting the idea of the dark power of the evil one so great a burden that accepting this idea too much to comprehend? Does accepting the idea of the dark power of the evil one cause us to make a leap of faith that we do not want to make toward the power of God? Are we not able to come to grips with the truth that we love the darkness no matter what the darkness does to us and to others?

We can truly accept there is a dark power of the evil one only if we truly accept there is a God first. If we do not accept there is a God first, we end up loving the darkness and the dark power yet we can deny the dark power exists by exclaiming everything is natural. The dark power wants you in denial. The dark power wants you to reject the idea there is a dark power.

To try to overcome the Light and Love in the world, the evil one does try to convince the world the darkness of the evil one is natural and acceptable. The dark power of the evil one obtains power over persons not when people worship the dark power; the dark power obtains power over people when persons do not love God. The dark power obtains power over people when people accept sin as normal and acceptable behavior.

Since none of us is going to get out of this life alive, what do we do about being caught in a whirlwind of darkness that will eventually kill us? In religious faith, we call people to believe. In secular life, we tell people to take a pill or get a treatment. In truth, we are out of secular options in dealing with the darkness of sin. The darkness of sin is now so pervasive that believing in a loving God (for most people) is as tough as believing we have an adversary that wants to kill us. The reality is that if a satanic terrorist does not kill you directly, Satan will kill you by using "natural causes."

If the face of certain death, a certain death that comes to every person on earth, what do we do? We must search for the Light. The Light dispels the darkness. With the Light, we can triumph in the spirit even when we are defeated in the body. Without Christ, without the power of God, without God walking on the earth, the human race had no hope two thousand years ago. Without accepting Christ as the Son of God, there is no hope for the human race in the present.

At the time of man's fall in the Garden of Eden, God saw this dilemma of no hope in our lives. God sent Christ to audibly tell us and visibly show us there really is a power of Light and Love. God sent Christ from God's very heart to show us He loved us. In our darkness of sin, we crucified Him. Christ came to tell us and show us there IS a reason to hope and believe. Christ came as a living example of God's love. Christ came to assure us life goes on after death, that after death there is glory or hell waiting on us depending upon what you decide here and now.
