DOING THE IMPOSSIBLE
Mark 10:13 People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him
touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14When Jesus saw this, he
was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to
me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as
these. 15I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom
of God like a little child will never enter it." 16And he took the
children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them. 17As Jesus
started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before
him. "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit
eternal life?" 18"Why do you call me good?" Jesus
answered. "No one is good--except God alone. 19You know the
commandments: `Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do
not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and
mother.'"
20"Teacher," he declared, "all these I have kept since I
was a boy." 21Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing
you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to
the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow
me." 22At this the man's face fell. He went away sad, because he
had great wealth. 23Jesus looked around and said to his disciples,
"How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!"
24The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again,
"Children, how hard it isE to enter the kingdom of God! 25It is
easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man
to enter the kingdom of God." 26The disciples were even more
amazed, and said to each other, "Who then can be saved?"
27Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but
not with God; all things are possible with God."
Look at what Jesus did here. He took children into His arms. If you
will let Him, He will wrap His arms around you just like He wrapped His
arms around these children.
Jesus looked at the rich man and loved him. However, did the rich man
look back? Did he really see Jesus? Was the rich man only interested in
getting extra life? Maybe the rich man wanted to buy it. The rich man
was not scum of the earth. He was not only rich, he was also righteous.
The rich man wanted to do right, be right, to live a right kind of life.
He also wanted to keep what he had and be more. However, Jesus wanted
the rich man to give up the rich man’s wealth but the rich man could
not do it. The rich man could not give up all he owned because he did
not look into Jesus' eyes, but if he had looked into Jesus'
eyes....there would have been a new ending to this encounter...the new
ending would have been that the rich man would have given away all he
had and he then would have followed Jesus.
Jesus wanted the rich man to give up all he owned. What you and the
rest of us must realize is that we cannot give up on our own. Giving up
to god, giving up all we own and all we are requires help. We need the
help of Jesus through the Holy Spirit. We need the Holy Spirit to help
us see Jesus’ eyes because seeing Jesus' eyes makes everything in the
world unimportant.
Sacrifice is an unnatural act for carnal man, but sacrifice is
natural with Jesus' love in our hearts. Sacrifice is unnatural if there
is no love. When we look into Jesus' eyes, suddenly the impossible
becomes possible. The impossible becomes automatic, like a reflex, when
you see those eyes.
The essence of our faith is giving, not taking. Giving away for no
reason other than to bless God is natural when we have the love of
Christ within you. If you are self-reliant and like to control things,
it is hard to give away from your heart, unless you have seen Jesus’
eyes. But if you have not seen Him or you have not look fully into His
eyes, keeping what you have and not giving away is instinctive,
involuntary, and uncontrolled.
However, when you see those eyes…
You get the Christmas spirit.
You get the giving spirit.
You get the Holy Spirit.
Without the love of Christ or the influence of those eyes you cannot
forgive on your own. Grudges remain without the melting influence of
Jesus' love. When you see Jesus eyes, all the grudges and bad feelings
disappear. When you see Jesus eyes and feel the love He has for you, He
starts to control your life and you begin to forgive...automatically.
You cannot witness on your own. You cannot really tell someone about
the power and love of Christ on you own. Oh, you can speak the words.
Perhaps you can speak the words in a powerful way. However, to speak the
words about those eyes and about the love that fills the emptiness
within your heart and soul requires help. When you see Jesus' eyes, you
have to tell others about Him. You cannot help it. It happens, it is
automatic. It is instinctive, involuntary, uncontrolled, unthinking, and
an unconscious reflex. Mind you, we are not saying you start talking
about Jesus, but when you are transformed by Him...you are a new person
and the new you are is transmitted to the world around you.
How the impossible becomes possible…without Christ' love inside of
you, it is impossible to love, care for, and totally accept others on
your own. You can try to totally accept others on your own. You can go
through the actions and go through the motions of acceptance. You can
make a show of acceptance. You can do an act to convince others of your
acceptance, but the real and true you, cannot totally accept others,
especially those who you do not like or agree with. If you will look at
His eyes and see how much He loves you, and receive that love from Him,
then that love flows back out from you. That love flows back out to
others automatically and you will hear people say things about you
like..."my, how she or he have changed!"
Without Christ, you cannot submit all you have and are on your own.
It is impossible to take what you are and put it aside. You cannot take
what you are and put it aside because there is no place to put it
(meaning your heart, mind, and soul). To do the impossible, to undergo
an impossible personal change or transformation, you have to be immersed
in Jesus' love. In addition, to be immersed, you have to look back at
His eyes to see the love He is.
Resolving not to be like someone else or resolving not to repeat past
mistakes is not enough. You cannot resolve to not live a certain way and
undergo a transformation of your heart and soul. Even living right and
obeying all the commandments is not enough. You cannot resolve to always
do the right thing because inner resolve alone will not enable you to
resist Satan’s attacks upon you. To do the impossible, or to
experience the impossible transformation, you have to give away
everything you have. You have to give all of yourself and all you own to
Christ. As difficult as this is, as impossible as it is in our human
self, when you look into Jesus' eyes, you cannot help but give
everything away. You cannot control surrendering up all you have and all
you are. The impossible becomes reality.
Jesus has the same love for you today that He had for the rich man.
Jesus has the same love for you today that He had for the children.
You cannot control your life on your own. You need help. When you see
Jesus’ eyes, His love overtakes you, He starts working on you and in
you, and His love starts changing you. The impossible situations that
were impossible to control become possible. His love makes everything
not only possible but also doable.
You cannot heal other people on your own. You also cannot repair the
broken parts of your own life on your own. We are not saying you are
helpless and hopeless on your own, but there are just some things that
are impossible for us as humans. With the love of Jesus, with the Holy
Spirit, all things become possible
The automatic nature of God working in you will begin to take over
when you give up all you own to Christ. What is unnatural and impossible
becomes…
Automatic
Habitual
Instinctive
Involuntary
Uncontrolled
Unthinking
Unconscious
And a reflex
Are you going to walk away sad like the rich man?
Are you going to not decide?
Are you going to refuse His love?
Let us see things the way they are in real life, in real time, in real
ways. This is the way it is...someone loves you and cares about you.
Someone loves all the other people of earth and cares about them in the
same way you are loved and cared about. This person of so much love is
Jesus.
However, people do not want to look at Him. No kidding, they do not
want to look at Him. They do not want to see Him because they know He
loves them. They know He can see them. They hear His voice, however,
they cannot look at Him and they close their ears to Him because they
know what will happen to them. They do not want to look at Him because
they know they will be transformed an never be the same again. They know
they will be totally different and they would rather stay who they are
than to be completely transformed.
Decide today. Ask Him into your heart and POOF!!! All things and
people will change because you have changed. Decide to look into Jesus'
eyes. Decide to never take your eyes off Jesus. When you do that,
nothing else in the world will ever look the same. People in the world
will never look the same. Places will never look the same. Nothing in
the world will ever be perceived to be the same. When you look into His
face, everything and everyone will seem to be reaching out to you, and
you will automatically reach out to them.
A teenage girl was lonely and she had no friends. No one cared about
her. She was not attractive and not popular. No one called her on the
telephone and no one ever asked her out. In an experiment, she decided
she would care about others for one year instead of caring about
herself. She found out when she cared about others they cared about her.
Instead of being the least popular person, she became the most popular.
When she moved away, all the people she knew cared about her so much
they gave her a going away party.
When you are confronted by your own impossible situations just look
into His eyes and receive His love...and the impossible becomes
possible. |
