We Will Get What We Deserve
As a nation, we will most assuredly get what we deserve. There are immutable
relationships, principles of democracy, and foundations of freedom and morality upon which
our nation was built. Taken together, these relationships, principles, and foundations
guarantee us that for every action or inaction by our people, there will be a reaction or
a consequence. In our democracy, the white walls of the house may look pure and clean on
the outside but within the walls, there is a silent but growing rot of corruption,
immorality, and disrespect for our fundamental principles of government. A worm may enter
an apple and leave but a small trace of its entry while leaving the apple a glossy red on
the outside. However, the glossy red apple, when infested, eventually becomes unfit to
eat. The human body may look and feel healthy but a virus may lurk within the body just
waiting for its first opportunity to destroy. Our nation has been infested with the
termites of corruption, the worms of immorality, and a virus of indifference and apathy.
When a nation ignores or looks askance at the worms, termites, and viruses that infect
its structure there will be consequences. The hungry termites of corruption can feed
quietly and for a long time, but left untreated, eventually the house upon which they feed
will crumble. A virus of indifference and apathy may lurk quietly within the body and not
make an appearance for months or years, but eventually the virus of indifference and
apathy will spring forth at a time of great crises and cause sickness or death. When a
nation does not care to look at itself, when it remains in denial of the worms, termites,
and viruses that eat it from within, then the nation will eventually crumble and the
persons who ignored the silent menace shall pay. When moral truth is ignored in favor of a
more expedient social, political, or economic agenda there will be a price to pay. When
the easy, fast, and more popular road is taken by elected officials and the silent eaters
that cause the silent rot are left untouched, then these silent eaters are encouraged to
eat and feed as they wish. When the core principles that help hold a family, a state, or a
nation in tact are eroded, then the lack of support these principles provide will cause
the structure to fall.
When a family, a state, or a nation does not abide by the fundamental laws laid down by
the Creator for the perpetuity of any social group, then that family, state, or nation
shall not long endure. People of good conscience can ignore the voice of their conscience.
People can look the other way and can support leaders who they know pander to the greed
and self-interests that lurk in all of us. However, those persons who ignore their
conscience will get what they deserve.
There are fundamental moral laws that govern the survival of the social unit. Those
societies that are to endure must not abandon the fundamental moral and ethical laws that
preserve its institutions. When forces within the family, state, or nation attempt to
manage, interfere, or erode these fundamental moral and ethical laws then there will
surely be a crumbling of these institutions. In modern times, Lenin did not live long
enough to see the consequences of his evil ways. The bill for the acceptance of
Lenins evil by the masses of the former Soviet Union is still coming due. This bill
may perhaps be coming due for another century.
The frustrations, anger, and wrath of the righteous few in a society who see the silent
rot may never be enough to overcome the lackadaisical self-centeredness of the masses.
However, if the righteous few can sound the alarm about the silent rot, there may be
enough courageous individuals in the masses to effect renewal. A righteous few plus other
courageous individuals, who, banded together as voters, can eradicate the causes of the
silent rot.
We are at a critical moral, social, and intellectual point in our nations
history. As a nation, we have not yet destroyed the great institutions of our democracy.
No, instead of outright destruction, we have let the termites of corruption, the worms of
immorality, and the viruses of indifference and apathy have their way with the great
foundational principles upon which we all stand. When we permit those persons who hold
leadership positions in our nation to erode our nation from within, then we will all
certainly get what we deserve. When we listen and read what the media puts forth and
accept what we are given without doubt or question, we will get what we deserve.
The forces of quiet erosion have done a masterful job of worming their way into our
ideas of acceptability. These insidious forces can tell us what we want to hear and make
us feel good about hearing it, all the while slowly eating away at what sustains us as a
nation. It is as if a cancer has infected the body of our great land but we do not want to
know. We do not want to look. We do not want to hear the doctors report for we are
afraid of the news. We are afraid of the truth. Consequently, since we are afraid of the
truth, we must listen to the news that is easier to hear which in turn fosters corruption
in both the media and in high places. Our recent times of economic prosperity have given
the white walls of the house extra layers of paint so that the house might look whiter,
brighter, and cleaner. Although whiter, brighter, and cleaner on the outside, the termites
of corruption are joyfully eating away our foundational freedoms on the inside. The worms
of immorality eat away at our vital American core values and the worms rejoice in the face
of those who treasure what is right, good, clean, and decent. The virus of indifference
lurks among us ready at any moment to explode upon us and cause illness and death. All
this will happen
because we know
and if we do not have the courage to act, we
will surely get what we surely deserve.
May Christ Jesus bless you and keep you in His grace and love. |
